Coloring your own sugar is SO easy. I did some recently, so I thought I'd pass along what I did. I'm sure you could have fun coloring some red and making some Valentine sugar cookies this coming week! I used mine for something else--10 points if you guess right!
Colored Sugar for Decorating
1/4 cup sugar
liquid food coloring
Place sugar in a ziplock bag. Add about 2 drops of desired color of food coloring. Most boxes have ideas for how to mix colors. (For this purple-ish sugar I did 2 drops red and 1 drop blue.) Mix sugar and color around well in the bag until evenly colored. I used a coarse sugar for this because I had it--anything should work, however. You can store it in the ziplocks or other airtight containers.
