In the couple places I've lived in China, I've found that strawberries don't last as far into the summer months as us Americans might be used to. Here where I live, the fruit sellers are saying they are almost finished. The past several years in this city I've noticed they usually finish up in early to mid-May. So buy up and freeze those strawberries if you want them for smoothies, adding to baked goods, or making a strawberry shortcake!! If any one is interested, I can share the recipes for strawberry freezer jam that I made this week (one using fruit pectin and one using jello in place of the pectin!).
