Moo Baa La La La Birthday Party

I've sorely neglected my birthday party tab recently! I'd like to remedy that. I'll start with a toddler theme. We did this when our little girl turned 2 earlier this year. Her favorite book at the time was Moo Baa La La La by Sandra Boynton. The internet sorely let me down for party ideas to go along with this book. But we made do! These ideas could really work for any animal sound themed party!

Invitations
We scanned the pages of the Moo Baa La La La book in order to print them as decorations and cupcake toppers for our party. So I used a couple of the images on the invitation (all credit to Sandra B.!). I can't find the invitation at the moment, but it said something like:

A cow says Moo
A sheep says Baa
Three singing pigs say
Its Adiel's birthday!

Details about the party followed that. It had pictures of the cow, sheep, and pigs.

The Cake

I went super simple for this cake since it was for a 2 year old. I just did cupcakes. I found some cow print cupcake liners that I put them in. I iced them in 2 or 3 different colors that went along with the book. Then I printed illustrations and animal sounds from the book to use as cupcake toppers.

Decorations

Again, seeing how it was for a 2 year old, I kept it simple. I just scanned and printed the pages of the book and taped them up on the wall. She loved seeing the book in large scale!

Games

When our guests arrived, we had animal stickers and paper at the table. This was our toddler's favorite activity at the time, so I was going with that.

Charades--We had parents and older siblings act out various animals, not using sounds, and the others guessed what animal they were.

Find Your Family--Kids had an assigned animal--each animal was assigned to two kids. They had to find their partner by going around making their animal's sound.

Cow Herding--We had black and white balloons blown up that were our "cows." Kids had to herd their cow from one place to another without using their hands and feet.

Animal Sounds Contest--We didn't get to this, but you can do this like a state fair with different categories and blue ribbons for the best ones!

Food

  • Chicken Nuggets
  • Pigs in blankets
  • Veggies
  • Spinach dip
  • Any other farm/animal related snacks!
  • I found some colored chocolate for melting online along with a little animal mold. I made some little chocolate candies with that.
Favors

I made some no-bake cookies and put them in little baggies with a sticker that said "Cow Patty."
I also sent a little bag with a farm animal toy and some candy. Ideas are endless for this, I'm sure.
