China Shopping Tip: Taobao Tuesday

Well, I'm back in China. I've been welcomed with terrible internet connection speeds, so…. if blogging can't be quick and easy, then my life hasn't had much time for it in the 3 weeks we've been back. But I'm going to try to get back to it! I've got some fun recipes we've been enjoying and I'm really getting back into the whole grains stuff. Good stuff ahead. We'll see if Taobao finds and tips become a regular thing around here, but I thought I'd at least share a fun find today. I might kind of make them their own tab. We'll see.

The vanilla I made last summer is running low, so I wanted to go ahead and get some new started for its 6-8 week sitting time. I found this Taobao seller running a deal on vanilla beans for Y2.99 each. I bought 10 and he gave me an extra free. They are a decent quality. Great for homemade vanilla and likely other recipes as well. Grab some.

Beans! This seller has black eyed peas, black beans, kidney beans, garbanzo beans, wheat and popcorn for very reasonable prices and shipping rates. Most of them cheaper than the options even in my market. And I can't get the black eyed peas, wheat, kidney beans, garbanzos or popcorn anywhere in my markets.

Reese's cups have arrived in China!! Our local grocery store (owned by Walmart) started carrying them this past week! I've heard of several finding them at Walmarts around the country as well. They are also on Taobao. Search 花生牛奶巧克力杯. The ones we found are priced in the Y6 range for the two cup packet and Y24 range for a bucket of minis. Some of the Taobao sellers are running the made for sale in China ones as low as Y4-5. Yeah!!!
