Chocolate Pie Crust

I haven't made dessert in a week. Last night I was SERIOUSLY craving something sweet. Didn't get the craving satisfied, just talked about it with Brian. We decided that some chocolate peanut butter cream cheese pie was in order. I made it today and its sitting in my fridge waiting on me. I love dessert. But my Wii Fit trainer is happier with me when I'm not making it! So, in order to have chocolate peanut butter cream cheese goodness, I need a chocolate pie crust. Don't have those in my Asian markets. So I make one. Here's what I do:

Chocolate (Oreo) Pie Crust
15 Oreos, give or take a few (don't use double stuffed)--should be about 1 1/4-1 1/2 cups crumbs
5 Tbs butter, melted

Place Oreos in blender or food processor and chop until they are a fine, crumb/powder consistency.  Add melted butter and mix well. Press into a pie plate. You can put it in the fridge to firm up if need be.

Sorry for the terrible pictures...that's what you get in my virtually window-less kitchen.

Variation: Graham Cracker Pie Crust is made the same way, only add about 1/4 cup sugar to the crumbs. You can find any type of basic lightly sweet cracker/cookie (I often use something called Breakfast Biscuits or Digestives here) to use in place of real Graham Crackers. The flavor won't be quite as good but will certainly be sufficient!

  1. Oh that sounds yummy! I wish that I was there to have a piece with you guys. I LOVE chocolate and peanut butter but Clark doesn't...so I haven't justified making the pie yet because I know I will eat it all! So today I made a chocolate peanut butter smoothie to suffice my sweet tooth :)
