Strawberry Lemonade

So a recipe for strawberry limeade came across my computer today. Its over on Our Best Bites. I can't get limes right now, but this sounded SO good to me. Our temperatures have been steadily rising this week and its been in the low to mid 90's I'd guess! So since Brian is away, I dragged the kids to the market with me, put up with being surrounded by people any time we stopped, and we got what we needed to make our version. And even though I've already shared 2 recipes this week AND told you I wouldn't post anything else with strawberries, I'm going to give you this one just as bonus. And just wait...there will be one more too! You deserve a break from the heat if you're in it!

Strawberry Lemonade
Strawberry Puree
2 1/2-3 cups loosely packed strawberries halves
1/3 cup sugar
1 tsp vanilla (opt)

Strawberry Lemonade (one serving)
Sprite
Ice
1 lemon
2-3 Tbs strawberry puree

To make strawberry puree or sauce, wash and cap strawberries (about a pound?). Cut in half and roughly measure 2 1/2 to 3 cups of them into a saucepan. Add sugar and vanilla, if you want.

Place over medium heat and mash a little bit with a masher or fork. Keep stirring and mashing to break up the berries for about 5 minutes. Turn off heat and allow to cool.

Put broken up and juiced berries into a blender and blend until a smooth puree. Refrigerate.

When ready to make the drink, place a good amount of ice in glass. Squeeze one lemon and add juice to glass. Add 2-3 Tbs of strawberry puree and then fill glass with Sprite. Stir quickly to blend.

ENJOY!!
