Its officially hot most days now. Cooking anything makes my kitchen ridiculously hotter. Our grill isn't working. Ugh. My kids are SO over peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. I'm starting to hear regular complaints when they are served. So this past week I cured a couple hams. Its making sandwich meals more bearable for awhile. I really love a glazed ham for a main meal, and I do love how yummy it is leftover on sandwiches. So when I make a ham just for using on sandwiches, I kind of miss that honey glazed flavor. So, quick solution to that--after the ham comes out of the oven, as soon as you're able to touch it, drizzle on some honey and rub it around. After that, sprinkle on some brown sugar and rub it into the honey. Continue to allow the ham to cool. This will give it just a little sweetness around the edges and make it a little yummier on a sandwich! I use a cerated bread knife to slice ham as thin as I can. Its still not a thin deli slice, but it works!
