Baking Tip: Butter to Oil Substitution


Awhile back one of you readers gave me a measurement chart for substituting oil in baked goods called for butter. I can't say that I've actually tried doing this is anything but I hope it will help some of you that don't have as much access to butter.

1 Tbs butter = 2 1/2 tsp oil
2 Tbs butter = 1 1/2 Tbs oil
1/4 cup butter = 3 Tbs oil
1/3 cup butter = 1/4 cup oil
1/2 cup butter = 1/4 cup + 2 Tbs oil
1 cup butter = 3/4 cup oil

This type of substituting will not work in all baked goods. You might have to do some experimenting. Hope this helps!
