It doesn't take long searching Pinterest to find that Art themed parties are all the rage and that people go crazy with them!! I was totally overwhelmed by the amount of effort and money parents were putting into them. But my nearly 4 year old loved crafts and painting and art so I thought it would be the perfect party for her. Here is how we did this party theme in a simple way that was super China-friendly. These preschool girls had a blast!
Invitation
I just did a simple paint splatter background downloaded from somewhere with the details of the party. Even just a solid color. Oh the beauty of art--it can be anything you want!
The Cake
Part of the reason we did a crafty art party was because my daughter wanted to decorate her own cupcakes at the party. I bought little paint palettes that we used for a our painting and as our party plate! I had cupcakes and in each whole there were different types of sprinkles the girls could decorate their cupcake with. It was definitely a highlight of the party.
Activities
We really kept our party very simple! The table had a spot for each guest. Their spot had an apron, a blank canvas, a paint palette and a jar of water. IN the middle of the table I had various size brushes and sponges. We filled palettes with paint colors of choice for each kid. They painted a long time on their canvases! But I had extra white paper if they wanted to do more.
I also had a second small table with paper, stickers, printed washi-type tapes, and a few coloring sheets. I let the kids transition to this table and do this while I cleaned up the painting table and re-set it with the cupcakes. It worked really well.
Decorations
I'm typically not the biggest decorator for parties. I did put a black cloth on the wall and hung some gallery art my daughter had done in days prior to the party. The table looked awesome on its own with a colored table cloth and a few construction paper paint splatters.
Food
We only had cake at this party. There are so many fun, colorful ideas on Pinterest though if you need more than just cake for your party! Rainbow fruit kabobs, etc..
Favors
I just sent the girls home with their art and their apron. Super simple!!
