Avengers Birthday Party

I had a great time doing this Avengers party for my 5 year old last year. You could adapt some of the games for any super hero themed party of course. Hope this helps as you plan for your own little super heroes!

Invitations

I found this image online at marvel.com and we adapted it with the info for our birthday party. It turned out super cute.

The Cake

Your cake will probably depend on which of the super heroes your kid likes the best, but on this given week, my son wanted a Captain America shield for his cake. It was really easy to copy the design.

Get in Character!

Have the kids wear their favorite super hero outfits! You can also order masks fairly cheaply on taobao in China. I did this for the kids at our party.

Games

Super hero party games can go all kinds of directions. These are the games I chose for this party.

Bad Guy "Bowling" - This game was simple--I taped some Captain America shield print outs on frisbees to make them look like Captain America's shield.  The kids were in two teams and took turns throwing the shields at bad guys to knock them down. I found a site online that had pictures of all the bad guys faced by Avengers in the comic books.

I printed out ones that didn't look too gruesome and taped them to water bottles. It was fairly easy for the kids to knock them down with the frisbees.

How Fast and Far? - Captain America could run a mile in a minute. Kids ran to see who could run the farthest in a minute.

Laser Shooting - I bought a can of silly string for each kid. We stayed in teams--half the kids were bad guys and the other half who were good guys chased them and shot them with "lasers." Then we switched and the other kids got their turn to shoot with silly string lasers. Tons of fun. Silly string is available in most stationary type stores in China.

Catch the Bad Guys - I had 3 adults that were bad guys. The kids worked in teams of 3-4 to catch their bad guy and take them back to our house. Once in the house, they each had a roll of cheap toilet paper to tie the bad guys to chairs with.

Serious fun for all!

Decorations

I did not do much for this party. I printed out an Avengers symbol and symbols for Captain America, Iron Man, Hulk and Thor. I taped those on the wall. I also had some Avengers plates and napkins from the US, but you could also just use primary colors.

Favors
I sent kids home with a mask from the party and a little bag of candy and some other small odds and ends.

What have YOU done for an Avengers party?!
